Research report: Forwarders’ interest in SOC Containers doubled
For the second year in a row, Container xChange set up a fake company to conduct their mystery shopping report. As an importer of industrial machinery parts in Germany, they made requests for SOC containers to store imported goods for 45 days.
The report found that:
- SOC Container acceptance rate among the 50 largest freight forwarders has doubled to 12% this year, compared to only 6% in last year’s mystery shopping report conducted by Container xChange.
- 60% of the forwarders contacted could not organize the SOC Container move, creating a chance for smaller, more agile forwarders to step in.
- Market share of SOC Containers will continue to grow due to the skyrocketing ocean freight costs, according to Wolfgang Lehmacher, former Director of Supply Chain and Transportation Industries at the World Economic Forum.
