Breakbulk – Maersk Opens New Office in Oman’s Sohar Freezone

Bases Already Established at Capital City Muscat and Port of Salalah

Maersk has strengthened its footprint in Oman after launching a new office at the Sohar Freezone on the sultanate’s northern coast.

The office is the shipping giant’s third in Oman, with bases already established in capital city Muscat and the Port of Salalah.

The Sohar office will allow Maersk to provide a range of services to its customers, it said, including ocean and landside transportation, cross border movement of cargo, customs clearance, warehousing and distribution, cold chain logistics and air freight.

“Oman is a significant market for us where we are committed to serving our important customers by bringing world-class integrated logistics solutions closer to them. Our ambition is to simplify the supply chains, make them efficient and transparent, and thus contribute towards the Oman Vision 2040 that aims at making Oman a competitive economy,” said Christopher Cook, managing director of Maersk UAE, Oman and Qatar.

“Sohar Freezone was a natural choice for us to set up our new office because of its strategic location at the port and the world-class infrastructure of road network and air connectivity on offer,” the executive added.
